What is a Boat-Chek report?
Our Boat-Chek reports provide the general impression of the kind of maintenance
the boat has undergone and an idea of its overall condition and its equipment.

Do I still need a full marine survey if I purchase the boat or can I use
the Boat-Chek report?
Yes, you will still need a full marine survey. The Boat-Chek reports are a
snapshot of the general condition of the boat at that time and are available to
help the boat buyer narrow down their search to find which boat they want to
pursue or eliminate.

How long does it take the surveyor to complete the Boat-Chek once they have
scheduled the appointment and have arrived at the boat?
You should allow for 1 hour. The Boat-Chek is not a sea trial and the surveyor
will be able to complete review in 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the size
of the boat. You should have the engine room and common areas clean and
organized.

Do I have to be present when the surveyor is schedule to review the boat?
Yes, the surveyor will need the owner or broker to start the boat.

If I list with your site and receive a Boat-Chek report that lists many
problems, will it be more difficult to sell the boat?
Boat-Chek reports are designed to be an accurate representation of the boat. A
better-informed boat buyer will be a better customer. There is a comment box
for sellers after the Boat-Chek has been performed to respond to the Boat-Chek.

S.A.M.S is an abbreviation for the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors.
S.A.M.S. is the largest professional association in the marine survey industry

How long until I am contacted by a surveyor once I request a Boat-Chek?
The surveyor will have 2 days to contact owner or seller, 2 weeks to perform
Boat-Chek, and 2 days to upload the Boat-Chek. If a surveyor is unable to
review your boat, Boat-Chek will refund the purchase and you will receive a
free listing.

Why are some boats listed without the Boat-Chek report?
The owner/broker has the choice of creating either simple classified listings
or Boat-Chek listings. Boat-Chek listings attract more realistic buyers within
a shorter time period than simple classifieds.

How do I request a Boat-Chek on a boat that does not currently have one?
Review a boat on our homepage will direct you towards requesting a Boat-Chek on
a boat that currently doesn't have one. You will be required to be a member and
provide the information on the boat's location and owners contact information.

What if I purchase a report and the boat has already been sold?
We request all boat sellers to immediately withdraw any sold listings, however,
there may be a timing conflict. Boat-Chek will refund any purchased reports or
allow the purchaser to view another Boat-Chek report.

N.A.M.S is the second largest professional organization in the marine survey

How do I purchase a report?
You must first become a member through our login page and then choose your
purchase options.

How do I save searches?
You will first need to become a member, which is free, and your homepage will
direct you to MyBoat-Chek.

Can I receive an e-mail when a boat that I am interested in lists?
Yes, you will need to become a member, which is free, and then login the site.
Your homepage will have MyBoat-Chek. From there you will need to click on Saved
Searches and add item to your watch list.

How do I become a member of Boat-Chek and start receiving business?
The surveyor tab on the homepage has the login for new surveyors. You will
click on Surveyors register with site and proceed. Your account will be pending
until Boat-Chek has received the independent contractors agreement. Please
request.

What if the owner or broker is not present during the scheduled review?
The broker/owner will need to be present. You may reschedule the review.

When I schedule the Boat-Chek with the owner or Broker will they have to be
present?
The owner or broker will have to be present to perform a Boat-Chek. The
owner/broker is required to start the engine.

What happens if I schedule a Boat-Chek and I cannot complete?
You are allowed to reschedule the Boat-Chek. The date must be within one week
of the original scheduled date.

What happens if I fail to perform a Boat-Chek within the required time
frame?
There will be a penalty in the compensation and habitual offenders will be
suspended from Boat-Chek.com. Written request by suspended surveyors will be
required and reviewed before reinstated.
